forge-browse-topics-using-forge is a customizable variable defined in forge-topic.el.

Whether to visit topic URLs using Forge.

If non-nil, bug-reference-push-button (on a reference such as #521) and browse-url (on a supported topic url) visit the topic using a Forge buffer. If the topic isn't known locally, it is visited using a browser anyway. Invoke these commands with a prefix argument to force them to use a browser even when the topic is known.

This variable was added, or its default value changed, in forge version 0.7.0.
