ghostel-module-directory is a customizable variable defined in ghostel-module-install.el.

Directory holding the ghostel native module.

When nil (the default), the module is read from and written to the ghostel package directory. Set this to a path outside your package manager's tree (for example, "~/.config/emacs/ghostel/") so that rebuilds or re-installs by the package manager do not delete or overwrite the module file while Emacs has it loaded.
