logview-search-only-in-messages is a customizable variable defined in logview.el.

Whether to incrementally search only in messages.

Normally search is not restricted and matches can be found anywhere. However, it is sometimes useful to ignore other parts of log entries, e.g. timestamp when searching for numbers.

To temporarily change this on per-buffer basis type \<logview-mode-map>M-x logview-toggle-search-only-in-messages (logview-toggle-search-only-in-messages).
